Privacy Policy

This policy is effective from 1st of March, 2018.

WeWe was founded on the premise of bulletproof data protection. It is our primary goal to store only the absolute a minimum of information for the shortest possible time. The processing and protection of data is carried out in accordance with applicable legal regulations and EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).

1. General Information

The WeWe app was developed in order to leave as little metadata as possible on a central server. It is therefore not absolutely necessary to indicate personal data to use the app. The identification of a subscriber takes place exclusively via an Nickname. WeWe can be used without providing any personal data. By using the app, you agree to the collection, processing and use of data as described below.

2. Purpose of Data Processing

WeWe processes data to enable the transmission of short messages and media to other subscribers. The processed data is processed exclusively by WeWe on its own server infrastructure in Germany and is not passed on to third parties.

3. Scope and Duration of Data Processing

A. Inventory Data

In the context of the use of WeWe, the following inventory data are collected and stored:
- Nickname
- Operating system and version of the WeWe app

When exchanging messages, only the following information is passed on to other participants:
- Nickname

The information will not be passed on to third parties.

B. Message Contents

Header information of messages (sender, recipient etc.) is protected by an additional encryption layer for transmission to the server, and from the server to the recipient, to prevent eavesdropping by third parties (e.g. in open wireless LANs). Messages and media (images, videos, files, etc.) are completely deleted after 30 days.

4. Data Processed by Third Parties

WeWe does not pass on any data to third parties, is completely free of advertising and does not use analytics software to monitor user behavior. However, some functionalities can only be provided by using external data sources, frameworks or operating system services, which in turn process data and are subject to a separate privacy policy.

5. Cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computers hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

6. Controlling your personal information

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information by not accepting access to your details in the Auth Dialog box. You can also withdraw permissions by the app to access your data by going to the settings. We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about our own content which we think you may find interesting. You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998. A small fee will be payable. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please contact us. If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please contact us as soon as possible. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

7. Amendment of the Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time in order to comply with changed legal requirements or to reflect new functionalities of the app. The current Privacy Policy is always available for consultation from within WeWe.
